Over time nail polish can get thick and stringy. This is due to the evaporation of Butyl Acetate and Ethyl Acetate, two of the main ingredients in all nail polishes that help the polish to dry on your nails.
To restore thick polish, use our KBShimmer polish thinner, Restoration Drops. For slightly thickened polish, start with 2-3 drops, shake, then check the consistency. Repeat until you are happy with the result. For dried out or severely thickened polish, we suggest that you fill the bottle with thinner to the fill line, let it sit overnight, and then shake in the morning. You may need to use a toothpick or paperclip to stir, allowing the thinner to reach the bottom of the bottle. As always, we highly suggest cleaning the necks of the polish bottles after use to allow a good seal. This will reduce polish evaporation in the long run.
The new dropper top helps you control the amount of thinner you add to your polish by easily controlling the flow of drops. Tipping the bottle over, the top slows lets a drop or two dispense. Squeeze to increase the flow, pressing harder to increase to a stream of thinner for bigger jobs. To prevent evaporation of the thinner, store with the regular screw top cap or closed turret cap.
Please note: Glitter polishes are generally thicker than cream polishes. The use of too much thinner can reduce the suspension properties of glitter polishes. Always start with 2-3 drops and only use what is needed to restore polish to its original consistency.

i finally took the plunge & ordered the restoration drops to try to bring back to life a beloved polish that has lived in my refrigerator for the last EIGHTEEN YEARS. it worked. IT. Every lacquer enthusiast needs polish thinner in their arsenal and KBShimmer’s is the best deal out there. I decant it into a smaller dropper bottle but it’s easy to use right from the bottle with the twist-seal nozzle. I’ve used it with all kinds of indies and mainstream polishes with excellent results every time. I have used many restoration drops from several brands, and I wish I had tried this one first. Other brands come in much smaller capacity and claim it only takes a few drops, but does not deliver until about 20 drops in. The KB Shimmer drops take about 3-7 drops and polish is like new consistency again. 95% of my polishes are specialty finishes from indie brands and the glitters, flakes, etc. do not get ruined with this product either. Easy to dispense and a fantastic size at a good price. I will only buy this brand from now on!

This fixed an old chunky glitter polish that had separated after I used a different thinner that contained acetone. It became one blob in the bottle and I thought it was ruined forever. It worked almost instantly and I’m so excited to use the polish again!!
