I got a bottle of the Stay Put Hydrating Base Coat at the Polish & Beauty Expo in Chicago this year, and it has swiftly become my go-to, surpassing Basic Training as my favorite. My nails tend to stain easily, but I’ve noticed significantly less staining with this hydrating base coat. And, although I only keep my manicures for a maximum of four days, I can say it holds up well with minimal to no chipping during that time. So happy KBShimmer decided to make this a permanent product!

I’ve tried so many different base coats and none have ever held up to the amount of hand washing & hand sanitizing I do as a healthcare worker. I have never found a base/top combination where I didn’t get chipping by the end of the second day. I’m on day 4 of Stay Put and Clearly On Top and I have minimal tip wear and absolutely no chipping. Please make a refill version of this. I’d snatch it up so quick because this is my new base coat for all my manicures from this point on!

Was looking for a pvb free base coat, and decided on this one. I can’t speak for its hydrating/protective claims, but I can’t say I don’t experience peeling from this and the polish lasts a decent amount of time before chipping. Hope they’ll make refills of this one soon, cause I’d buy it!

After frustrating myself with 9 months of weekly polish changes and having super peely nails, I switched to this and can see and feel a difference from where I started using it about 5 months ago. I always have such an issue with nail polish just peeling off no matter how much prep I did. I would get 2-3 days (maybe 4 if the stars aligned) before the polish would start lifting. I’m currently on day 6 using this base coat with my normal prep and Clearly On Top top coat. LOVE.

I work on a farm, so my hands go through a lot every day. I bang my hands, I get my nails wet, they get caked in dirt and god knows what else. My nail polish usually lasts 2-3 days max before chipping off. With this base coat, I’m getting wear closer to a week. I prefer sticky base coats but find them to be very drying on my nails. The hydrating ingredients in this base have really helped keep my nails healthy. If you have dry nails, definitely try this base coat. I’m happy to see that it now has a blue tint so it will be easier to tell the difference between my other KBS base/top coats. I hope this will eventually be offered in a refill size

I’ve used Orly’s bonder for years now but read that it dries your nails out pretty badly and noticed some flaking on my own nails that encouraged me to search elsewhere. I bought this base coat as part of the base and top coat package and was so happy I did. Same bonding properties and hopefully hydrating though it’s too soon to tell but given how much I love their clearly on top top coat I have high hopes!

I’ve been looking for a good base coat for 2 years. I tried Orly Bonder, KBS Fillin’ Groovy, & KBS Basic Training. They all worked fine, but I I was never able to get 1 week with no chipping. I was working on my nail health & manicure skills in the meantime so I didn’t blame the base coat. I got better at wrapping my tips & leaving an edge gap for all the layers except the QDTC, to seal in the color. I started using a cuticle remover & left my proximal nail fold intact. I started using cuticle oil more regularly, especially at night with a lotion/balm & gloves. I thought having 1Tbsp of chicken broth daily was my final level up on nail quality. Then I happened to see the reviews for KBS Stay Put base coat & people saying it was a game changer. Ordered a bottle expecting to do some more a/b testing. Unnecessary. My first manicure lasted 2x as long, despite gardening, long enough for me to get sick of the color but hesitate to take it off because it still looked good. I’m done looking for a base coat now. I didn’t realize what a game changer it would be once I found my holy grail base coat. If you’ve tinkered with your nail prep a lot & still aren’t getting long wear, I would recommend trying this base coat. Additionally, once I realized this hydrating base coat worked for me, I started prepping by applying cuticle oil, letting it soak in for several minutes, and then washing & drying my nails well; I stopped dehydrating with acetone as the last step before painting. That also seems to have helped with longer wear. I didn’t realize when I started painting my nails more frequently how different body chemistry can be and just took manicure prep advice as the same for everyone.

Took the advice from Emily in one of the Reviews. I do yardwork, clean house, laundry, cook and dishes, wash car and more. I threw everything at this Basecoat (Stay Put Hydrating Basecoat) and I got almost 2 weeks of wear with only edgewear no chips. I did Fall Cleanup outside, trimmed 2 20 ft. Birch Trees took all Fall Decorations down outside, Cleaned a 3-bedroom Ranch by Hand with Gloves, and put Fall Decor inside away, Put up Outside Lights with Hubby and all inside Decor for Christmas. I also cooked Dinner and did Dishes and Showered every day. I removed it after all this Black Friday. Christy Rose Please don’t stop making this Basecoat and the Clearly on Top Topcoat. it works with all my polish, and I can’t live without it!! Thank You so much for an outstanding product!!

This is my ride or die base coat right now. It dries down fast and shiny. My man is last 10-14 days with proper nail prep and too coat every 3-4 days.
This does not contain PVB and does not cause my nails to be damaged. I’ve used this so many times and it still barely looks like I’ve used it. And I always do at least 2 coats. Highly recommend.
